Treatments & Services

What is Physiotherapy? Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession concerned with human function and movement.  It uses physical treatments to restore and maintain physical, psychological and social wellbeing.  At Clifton Physiotherapy we are committed to research based practice and offer up to date treatments for a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, lower limb problems, whiplash, sports injuries, headaches, elderly care and post operative rehabilitation.

Initial Assessment: Your initial assessment will take 45-60 minutes.  Following a comprehensive history taking and physical examination the Physiotherapist will make a diagnosis of your condition.  This is the key to providing a fast and effective solution to your joint and muscle problems.  You specific treatment options will be discussed and an agreed treatment plan formulated to suit your needs.

Treatments: Treatment will begin at your first consultation and may include;

  • Joint mobilisations
  • Soft tissue mobilisation and release
  • Exercise
  • Pilates
  • Acupuncture
  • Advice and education on self management
  • Electrotherapy

If physiotherapy treatment is inappropriate your Physiotherapist will advise on how best to manage your condition.  Clifton Physiotherapy has close links with Orthopaedic Specialists, Podiatrists, Radiologists and local General Practitioners.  If onward referral is required we will be only too happy to facilitate this.

Home Visits: We are able to offer physiotherapy home visits within a 5 mile radius of the clinic.  Visits outside this area may be negotiable on an individual basis.  We can also arrange to supervise your gym visits or exercise classes if required.
